This page is still being worked on. In the meantime
for your viewing pleaure a web cam of the Cologne
Cathedral.
We stayed at the Hotel
an der Philharmonie in the past and I expect we'll stay there again,
unless we "day trip" from Düsseldorf.
Brewery Tap Rooms (Star ratings are Micheal Jacksons)
Früh (***) Was once a brewpub,
but they ran out of room and built a larger brewery in the “burbs”.
Soft and delicate, hopped with Hallertau and Tettnang. Location wise,
the best place to drink Kölsch.
Gaffel (***) Dry and a bit
fruity. The tap room in the Alter Markt was their original brewery,
but they have moved the brewery north of the train station.
Malzmühle(***½) I waffle between Früh, Gaffel
and Malzmühle as my favorite Kölsch. Last time I thought it was a bit
blander. It is a tad darker that the normal and a bit maltier.
Päffgen
(***½) Soft palate and big hoppy boquet. Has the hoppiest finish of
all the Kölschbiers.

Peters A
brewery in the suburb of Monheim that also brews Dusselr Alt.
Sion (**
½ )Very flowery. Now contract brewed.
Other Beer points of Interest:
There is a bar called the "Biermusem" that has about
20 different beers on tap (which is rare for Germany) including some
hard to find ones like an Eisbock and a Rauchbier. I also recommend
the Jever Pils (****) which is brewed in on the North Sea coast in Friesland.
Haxenhaus specializes
in “Schweinhaxe” or pigs knuckles and homemade sausages. The sausages,
kölsch and even schnapps are sold by the meter. (A meter of kölsch is
usually about 11 glasses).
